Synopsis

EN "To grieve deeply is to learn how to live fully. That is what Vietnam taught me." Two women offer their voice to unspoken sorrow, and ensure that the passage from life to death is marked with dignity. The first feature by Huong D. Ta is about an extraordinary yet fading tradition of professional mourners in a small village in Northern Vietnam. The screening will include the short animation film THE BOY WHO CHEATED DEATH by Pipou Phuong Nguyen, about a little boy who tries to hide his mother from Death. Director: Huong D. Ta is a London-based documentary filmmaker. His craft was honed in the cutting rooms of acclaimed films, including the BAFTA-winning Exposure: The Women Opposing Putin and Channel 4's Rebekah Vardy: Jehovah's Witnesses & Me.
