Synopsis
At a wig factory where workers are pushed into punishing overtime, sisters Putri and Ida are left trying to understand their mother’s mysterious death. Putri believes she died from exhaustion; Ida suspects something more sinister. When exhausted workers begin speaking of a dark figure that takes possession of their bodies, Ida decides to work through the night herself to uncover the truth. Their younger brother Bona, whose wounds have the unusual ability to heal, is drawn into the mystery. Edwin’s wild fantasy horror turns the machinery of overwork into a grotesque nightmare, combining body horror, dark humour, practical effects and Indonesian folklore. Beneath its excess and absurdity, Sleep No More takes aim at a workplace culture that rewards workers for sacrificing sleep, health and their bodies for productivity.
